Parish Outreach Ministry

We are the Church in action.

WHO is served: Priority for service is parishioners first of all and those Father refers, then those within our parish boundaries. As resources allow, those who come to us from outside parish boundaries.

HOW: We begin by Listening; assisting as resources allow, referral to appropriate community resources when we are unable to help…

Limited voucher, bus token-utility-rent -prescription-food assistance. Cash assistance is always paid directly to the utility or landlord and only after verification and empowering the family as far as possible.

By ministering so that the dignity and confidentiality of those served is respected.

Close collaboration with ministry heads, Knights of Columbus, outside agencies, etc., to achieve common goals.

WHERE Outreach Ministry takes place: Much client outreach takes places via telephone contact.  Outreach ministers may meet in person with clients or agencies. At times outreach ministers request may the use of a room at the office. Ministers may meet with a client in a hospital, extended care facility, or other public place. When meeting a client in a home, ministers are encouraged to go “two by two.”

Use the office or church for Outreach ministry meetings, training and larger gatherings and of course for fundraising!

HOW are Outreach efforts funded: One collection each year, fundraising events, parishioner donation of bus tokens, items for the white elephant table at the parish bazaar or auctions and/or individual parishioners adopting families or providing food for example for Clare House meals or funerals, thanksgiving and St Francis House.
