Outreach Ministry has “official names” for ministry components.
Hospitality - inviting…listening, being present to those in need and collaborating with other parish ministries.
Compassion – We visit the homebound, the ill and try to be there to assist our people walk through difficult days after a death. Official ministry names are “Visitation to the Homebound” and “Bereavement Ministry.”
Formation – Your Outreach committee is now in the process of receiving training so that we are able to provide training to ministry volunteers.
Education – Sharing what we discover with you so that we all become better informed.
Crisis Intervention - We respond to individuals and families that contact us first by listening and helping them empower themselves to do as much as they can FOR themselves. We provide cash assistance, when appropriate, as our resources allow.
Prayer - is an important part of our ministry.
Advocacy - For the client: in situations where it is not possible to empower the individual.
As we become stronger as a ministry, we hope to encourage you, the parish to advocate for agencies/programs we establish partnerships with (such as CSS and others) with the legislature on issues affecting the poor, marginalized and voiceless, for example by public opinion messages to legislators.
